IBS – Getting to the root of the problem.

IBS – Getting to the root of the problem.

Irritable Bowel Syndrome is common and affects up to 1 in 5 people (1). At some point you may realise you’ve had bloating, gas and cramps for some time so you go see the doctor. He gives you the label of IBS and some drugs to help you along your way. However, neither of these actions helps you to understand what’s going on or how to actually fix the root problem.

Your doctor might not really understand what’s going on either, but as long as there is a drug for it, who cares? The drugs may or may not help and symptoms may return as soon as you stop taking them. Oh and there may be some side effects to deal with as well. It’s just one of those things you have to put up with, right?

Natural Medicine Gets to the Root of IBS

In this video I share what might actually be going on for you if you are suffering with the mysterious condition know as IBS. We we look at how dysbiosis, leaky gut, poor digestion, inflammation, stress and food intolerances are actually behind your symptoms (2).  And of course we’ll look at some of the things you can start doing today to improve the situation.

Symptoms are the result of unfavourable conditions. Once we know what they are we can deal with them. Restoring these conditions results in wellness and your body can heal. Getting to the root of the problem means finding out what’s going on and correcting it. Not simply masking the symptom with a drug with the hope that things will fall into place on their own accord. Or even worse, being stuck on a drug with side effects indefinitely!

In this video I talk about some of the possible causes of IBS and some of the things you can start doing to improve your condition.

Let me know your thoughts on IBS in the comments section below and anything you’ve done to improve your condition along with any questions you might have.

Tracey IBS Sufferer

Getting tested for IBS is the most important thing when it comes to improving your condition. The correct foods and supplements can greatly help relive symptoms. In many case is it worth going to a specilaist IBS clinic to get this initial testing done and advice on what foods to elliminate from your diet. Different IBS suffers may have thier iBS trigger by different foods, so finding out what triggers your might be a simple case of trail and error unfortunately.

That’s very true Tracey. Finding out which foods you are intolerant to is very important. So is restoring ‘oral tolerance’. This means improving the gut barrier function so that undigested food particles can’t get across. When a person does this they find they are not offended by so many foods. Rehabbing the microbiome is a major part of this. Otherwise you may find yourself on a restrictive diet for years. I’ll be looking at some ways to improve the microbiome in the next article.
